The women of this country are of congratulations, today the law of the abortion has been approved definitely.
The Senate has pushed three P.P vetoes back., UPN and It Joined as well as 88 amendments proposed to the text approved in the Congress. From now on, in four months when the law is effective, the women will have the juridical guarantees that the previous law was denying to them, either they will not have to look for more or less legal subterfuges to finish not wished pregnancy, either nobody will be able to harass them when they decide, in the first 14 weeks, to finish freely this not wished pregnancy. And the young people between 16 and 18 years also will be able to take freely this decision.
That there finds out well the derechona, the church and the anti-abortion ones: this law does not force anybody, only it gives rights not obligations and chases fundamentally to reduce those more than 100.000 abortions that take place annually in Spain. The Law of Sexual and Reproductive Health puts his emphasis on the sex education and on the prevention, but when all that fails, in the end the women have to have the right to decide if they continue or not with not wished pregnancy. They and they go or to be able to keep on continuing with his hypocritical existence, denying the right to decide the free maternity, but coming to his clinics deprived to solve his sexual problems. What they have always done.
I am worried by the conscientious objection of “the sanitary professionals straight involved in the voluntary interruption”, because if it is not regulated appropriately they are going to keep on doing what till now, to object in the public one and to practise abortions in the private road. The Government must guarantee that the conscientious objection does not turn into a brake to the law enforcement in the public centers, there has to be guaranteed the exercise of this right of a free way and in the private health.
At the moment today it is a big day for the women. Congratulations!
Health, Republic and Socialism.
