There are other routes

Today I have seen an interesting debate on the pensions in CNN +, in that there was intervening Carlos Bravo Secretario of Social security of CC.OO.

pensiones2 His opponent, whose name I do not remember, they have raised the classic proposals of the management one, the Spanish Bank and the IMF. It has referred that the situation of the public system of pensions in Spain is a product of the Spanish demographic situation and therefore it is necessary to increase the age of the retirement in two or three years, to be raising the period of calculation of the pension until any labor life to approach to, to increase the years quoted to have right to a pension and to reduce the percentage between the pension and the last received salary.

Nevertheless Carlos Bravo first of all has told that it is not a population problem, but a demographic transitory problem that will only affect the born during the population explosion in Spain, since after this period the demography descended drastically and that will do that past this period the problems stop. Secondly it has raised that there have to be fulfilled the commitments of the Agreement of Toledo with regard to the separation of sources, which are motivating that of the quotas of the Social security 4.000 million euros per year are paid for complements of minimums that should go at the cost of the budgets of the state and another 2.000 annual million costs of infrastructures of the S.S. that also would have to pay the state.

On the other hand it has raised that the solution to the problems of the pensions does not have to come for the way of reduction of expenses, but for that of the increase of the income and in this sense CC.OO. considers between other measurements, to increase the economic activity and to reduce the unemployment, to eliminate the quotation à la carte so that it makes possible that only in the last years it is quoted for the maximum base, to chase the fraud to the S.S. for which the businessmen quote below the real salary of the workpeople and to encourage, in a voluntary way. the delay of the retirement for those that do not have enough years of quotation or want to improve his pension.

Finally that the demographic effect is transitory and that the solutions do not have to come for a clipping of the social rights and the support to the systems deprived of pensions, but for the route to increase the income.

I recommend the reading of the article of Carlos Bravo, “The System of Pensions in España:refuerzo and it reforms perms” it is a clarifier and didactically.

Health, Republic and Socialism.
