Today there is celebrated the Day of the Wage Equality, to denounce the breach that keeps on existing between the salary of the men and the women.
We are already so used to celebrating the day of …, that most of these commemorations finishes decaffeinated and only it serves so that days mount that only they serve so that the minister or minister of the branch is shown giving the discriminatory numbers and announces it with a great fanfare much that the government does to eliminate such and such social mark.
And this is a little what happens with this commemoration. The socialistic group of the Congress has celebrated a few days with the motto “Equal work, equal salary” where the minister of Equality, Bibiano Aído, has announced the discriminatory numbers in the salary of the women. If in the EU the women gain of average 15 % less than the men, in Spain this difference rises up to 27 %.
I say who if this information is known is because it is known where it is operated in a bad way, then: why is not it operated against the offenders? If the businessman who introduces the inequality is sanctioned so that it works out for him more expensive to pay the sanction than to keep on discriminating, it is sure that the others would take example. In my company the wage discriminations, the categories exclusively masculine or feminine were already eliminated many years ago and I think that in immense most of the big companies it happens the same, the problem how there is always in the kidling and a half company, where unfortunately it governs the law of the jungle.
These are the measurements that CC.OO. proposes to eliminate the wage inequality and that has defended in these days:
- The fixation of conversion criteria of temporary contracts to fixed that favor the women when, on equal terms and merits, they are affected in major measurement than the men for the temporality level.
- To improve the qualification, advancing in the professional implantation of classification systems that, contemplating the equivalence of qualification and functions, bears the fees comparison and foresees river beds for the access to the formation, to the recognition of the qualification and to the professional career development.
- The study and, in his case, the system establishment of selection, classification, promotion and formation, on the base of technical, objective and neutral criteria because of genre.
- The elimination of sexist denominations in the professional classification (categories, functions, tasks).
- Also clauses of positive action will be included in the conditions of professional classification, promotion and formation, so that, on equal terms the women prefer in the group, category or job in those who are subrepresented (Art. 17.4 of the Statute of the Workpeople).Finalmente, CCOO remembers that the LOIEMH, in his article 45, establishes that: "The companies are forced to respect the equality of dealing and of opportunities in the labor ambience and, with this purpose, they will have to adopt measurements directed to avoid any type of labor discrimination between women and men, measurements that they will have to negotiate, and in his case match, with the legal representatives of the workpeople in such a way that it decides in the labor legislation".
Now only the political will is missing.
